Parking at the Truman Sports Complex could increase again. The Transportation Development District (TDD) up for vote on Aug. 5 includes some hefty fees.
In addition to the 1% sales tax, the TDD would assess $54.75 per surface pay parking space. The sports complex has 22,000 spaces – so Kauffman and Arrowhead would face $1,204,500 in annual assessments. However you look at it, these fees would be passed on to sports fans.
These fees would be used to fund a streetcar extension that wouldn’t even reach the sports complex. So, sports fans would be charged for a streetcar they couldn’t even ride to the game.
