The Atlanta streetcar project still isn’t complete – but it’s already burned through hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars.
- The project has been delayed several times. It was initially supposed to be running in January.
- According to the Streetcar Project, the biggest delay has been dealing with unexpected utilities, like unmapped gas lines and water pipes. Considering the age of Kansas City’s infrastructure, this is a very real concern for our community as well.
- Construction estimates started out at $60 million per mile. That’s now increased to more than $100 million per mile.
