Ethics Complaint Alleges KC Streetcar "Electioneering"

electioneeringAlt.jpgCitizens for Responsible Government filed a complaint with the Missouri Ethics Commission on June 20. The complaint alleges that the city’s public outreach for a streetcar engineering study is electioneering.

The group argues that the city’s plan to spend $685,000 for community hearings and door-to-door outreach is actually campaigning. The efforts are scheduled to lead up to the Aug. 5 election. This election includes Question A, which would create a Transportation Development District to fund streetcar expansion.
